- Deburr pipe and lubricate tool and pipe with a food grade lubricant.
- Insert tool into pipe.
- Hammer the tool onto the pipe.
- Twist the tool, tap on side of tool with hammer to loosen tool from pipe.
- Pull tool off pipe.
- That's it; your pipe is resized to factory specs, inside and outside!
This one tool measures 6" and 8" outside ductile iron water main. It is used to check if the main will fit in your fittings where you plan to cut it behind the bell, before you cut it.
In the manufacturing of water main, the outside diameter of the pipe, within 2 ½' from the bell, may be too large to fit in your fittings. With the use of this gauge, you can measure to check for out of round main and check the proper size to slip into your MJ fittings. No more wasting time cutting off a bell only to find out your fitting won't fit without grinding the pipe end or recutting it shorter. With this gauge, you can check your pipe before you cut to make sure it will fit into your fitting. If this gauge fits over your pipe where you want to cut, a fitting will slip right on. Very quick and easy. A great time and money saver!
